Even though World Vision Lanka traditionally relied on funding from overseas, with our new strategy, our programmes are going to be focusing on only one sector that has the most pressing needs in each area where we work. The overseas funding will focus on these programmes.
However, since there are lots of vulnerable people in need, who may not qualify for our traditional programmes, we are reaching out to those who can and are willing to help support them. The fundraising portal will help us enhance our support system and enable us to support more families.
All fundraised projects will still be available on this website and even after the completion of the fundraising phase, the projects will be regularly updated with progress through pictures and reports.
If you are a donor of the project, you will receive these updates via email. You may also contact us for any clarifications.
Each Project will also have a completion report at the end.
Accountability is key to World Vision and your trust in us is of utmost importance. If you donate to a project, you will be updated about how the funds have been utilised.
Before we publish a need or a project on this portal, World Vision does a thorough assessment of the needs of the individual/family. We work with the individual/family in the plan of fulfilling the need.
World Vision team will also monitor the use of the funds and the progress.
Yes, 100% of the funds raised for a particular project will be utilized for that project, which includes operational and implementation costs as well.
As a general rule, World Vision does not provide cash to families. Depending on the project we will purchase the goods required and handover to the family or in a project (such as housing) where outside services are required we work with a contractor/consultant to complete the project.
In certain projects cash grants may be made available to the recipient.
All these details will be available in the project pages. If you become a donor to a project the progress will be shared with you frequently.
The families would be offered materials, rather than money, for the most part. And, World Vision Lanka will be visiting the beneficiaries regularly and will keep the donors updated.
All of the details of the support they get from you and from World Vision will be reported in the communications you receive or in the ‘reports’ tab at the completion of the project.

Even though we are a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, we work closely with the government and authorities to implement our programmes. For local-level programmes, we work with the Divisionl Dectretariats and Grama Niladharis and other officials to identify beneficiaries. This enables us to avoid instances where beneficiaries receive help both from World Vision and the government.
No. However, please write to us at [email protected] or contact us through our phone numbers for us to review your needs. However, it must be noted that World Vision Lanka would consider several things, such as the area being our working area, funds availability, and staff distribution in the area, before committing to the development of a community.
